Ingredients:

2 teaspoons cooking oil

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1-1/2 cups broccoli florets

1-1/2 cups cauliflower florets

1 can (8 ounces) straw mushrooms, drained

1/2 cup chicken broth

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon white pepper

1 teaspoon cornstarch (dissolved in 2 teaspoons water)

Directions:

1. Heat a wok over high heat until hot. Add the cooking oil and garlic and stir-fry for 10 seconds. Add the broccoli, cauliflower,  mushrooms and stir-fry for 30 seconds. Add the chicken broth, cover, and cook, stirring, until the vegetables are crisp-tender, about 3 minutes.

2. Add the oyster sauce, sesame oil, and pepper and cook for 1 minute. Add the cornstarch solution and cook, stirring, until the sauce boils and thickens.

TIP:

To eliminate any undesirable “canned” taste from straw mushrooms, drain them, dip them in boiling water for 1 minutes, and drain before using. I do the same for canned bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and baby corn.
